The surface is not smooth white. It looks like a wooden structure. It would be nice if the coating didn't peel off. I like the weight and it comes with mounting screws.

Both came with small 1/2" chips on the front edge but I don't have time to wait for another set so I'm keeping them but be aware that this can happen will probably happen to you too.

I have ordered two of these units. I have lots of photos all over my small apartment. Photos of my loved ones on every surface clutter my house. Now I have it hanging on the wall next to my door. I even put a mirror on one of the shelves to check myself before going out.

Nice shelf. There were problems with 2 screws in a row - the heads came off immediately. In the end we ditched the hardware that came with the product and used our own quality screws and mollies. I put 3 because most people didn't have ready gear. You can also see the screws. Most floating shelves have a sticker covering the screw heads so you can't see them.

I've looked everywhere for affordable photo ledges and finally found these wonderful ones. Installation was easy - I didn't use anchors though if that doesn't hurt. First I drilled the middle hole and then used the level on top of the ledge to drill the end holes. It doesn't support a ton of weight but each has a couple of picture frames/fake plants on them and they look amazing! Really helps set up the room.

First I wanted them to be real wood. But I had a budget to stick to and a look I REALLY wanted. I LOVE these shelves. They were very easy to install, just make sure you have a leveler and spike finder). My husband suggested using different anchor bolts and I'm glad we did. The ones they provided were ok but they were more silver which I think would show more. Overall I LOVE these shelves and it can't be said that I assembled two of them. I intend to purchase this product again for my bedroom.

I really liked that I got two for the price and they are finished in white wood. I like the little indentation in the bookshelf or picture shelf that protects it. It was well packaged, the edges were sealed with cardboard. Somehow, however, the edges were still jagged. I hung them up and you couldn't see it unless you got close.
