When I dropped the radio the plastic cap came loose and broke. Not durable at all. I only bought it for the small size but didn't see any noticeable benefit after seeing how thin and delicate it is.

Firstly, the longer the antennas the better (adapted to your band of course). But if you just want a reliable walkie-talkie that you'll use at close range, e.g. B. in the field, this works excellently. And best of all, they're so compact and stiff that you don't have to worry about the size, length, or fragility of the longer ones. They are best suited for a specific application.

I actually bought these to increase the range of a pair of Baofeng 888 radios, but I ended up replacing the stock antenna on my UV-5R with one of these. I was impressed with the improved clarity of the signal - it became much easier to hear and understand police messages on the scanner. I can't confirm if this actually increases the range of the radio, but it definitely makes reception clearer.

AMZN Logistics arranged shipping so I ordered from a reputable auction site. Right out of the box I could tell these would last a lot longer than the rubber ducky that came with the 888 radio. I decided to use a large amount of heat shrink tubing and compress it around the antenna but left about a half inch remain protruding to act as a shock absorber.
