It does exactly what it promises. The microphone is comfortable and sensitive. I tested this by putting it in a shoe in my bedroom closet, closing the door, and talking for a few minutes. The playback was more than sufficient, especially since it has volume. I use it every day for notes as I often forget the simple things. It works great and is easy to use but consumes a lot of battery. I recorded a 90 minute talk and was then able to listen to it for 15 minutes before the first set of batteries died. So if I plan on going to class 4 times a week and recording a total of 4 hours each day and then listening for those 4 hours, I'm going to be wasting millions of dollars in AAA batteries every week.
