Excellent heater very small and light

This is a great camping stove - small, very well made and finished, nice big burner that spreads the heat. The handles on top are large enough to stabilize dishes for two. A folding burner takes some stability, but my previous competitor stove had a fixed burner and it bent, so it was worse. The heat dissipation is excellent. I sometimes use a windscreen, which helps but isn't necessary. All in all a really excellent and absolutely reliable part of my camping equipment.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • unreliable

Compact and reliable

Bought this as a gift. I have had a folding Optimus Crux for six years now and have used it while hiking the Appalachian Trail. When folded, the oven is so compact that you have to be careful not to lose it. It generates a lot of heat and when water boils it can match or beat any stove. It also boils, which many canister ovens won't allow. I have used it with various sized pots up to 4 liters but would recommend buying a set of stabilizing feet that attach to the fuel can if using larger pots.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Not bad

Works well, there are two major downsides.

The stove is very nice and small, the cover fits comfortably under the gas bottle. It puts out 3,000 watts, which is enough to heat up anything you come across on a hike in no time! I only found two flaws in my oven: the head has a little play when it is fixed in the working position and three handles. Do not hold the pot evenly. This isn't a problem for my Italian espresso machine, but putting a heavier, larger pot on it can get very frustrating. A little work with pliers and maybe a smallโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • thin
