Osprey Packs Atmos Abyss Backpack: The Ultimate Casual Daypack Review

Just returned from a 60 mile trip through rural Montana. The bag was fantastic, comfortable and breathable. Lots of adjustments to fine tune the fit. Excellent storage and organization. The only complaint (which is very common) is the zipper situation, particularly on the back pockets. It's almost impossible to open and close them with one hand, which is frustrating considering these bags are designed for one-handed access on the go. Otherwise the bag is great!

Excellent backpack. Cobwebs on the back keep you cool on your hikes, while webbing provides ample support around the waist and chest. I would suggest trying on each backpack in person (I did this before purchasing from REI) to get an idea of whether it will fit you and how comfortable it is. My boyfriend LOVES this set! He's tried a few other competitor brands but this one fits the best and looks good to top it off. As a beginner hiker I was a little worried about being able to fit all my gear and therefore bear the weight. After a five mile hike (mostly uphill) and one night, I can tell you that this bag gave me the confidence to be okay in the wilderness of the White Mountains of New Mexico. I had all the gear I needed (tent, sleeping bag, food, cooking system, water) as well as my cold and rain gear and I had some extra space.
