I received this from a second hand seller because I believe OXO has discontinued this item and I understand why. He just grates cheese badly. I would recommend the Heavy Duty Counter Mounted option if you can find one.

I had almost the same OXO (smaller) which was a miracle. I lost the cap so I ordered this in a larger size which otherwise looked exactly the same. Somehow the rotor doesn't spin and therefore doesn't squeak, except when starting up. I can't get it back either now that 6 months has passed. Unusable item. Cannot be saved. Do not buy.

It seemed like a great gadget! It stores the cheese and keeps it fresh. Unfortunately, grating cheese is very difficult. I have arthritis in my wrists so I thought it was just me but my husband has issues with it too. It's too late to return it for 30 days, so I'll donate it. We ended up ordering the Zyliss Rotary. The cheese grater we had before broke after 10 years.

I've been giving since I bought my first OXO Good Grips Seal and Store rotary cheese grater. This worked great for me and those who received one of my gifts. I recently bought one for my second home. OXO ruined it by increasing the size and redesigning it. I can't turn the handle because the handle is too small to get a proper grip and the cheese compartment before grating is too big. I've loved this brand for over 20 years since I first bought what I call a "super cleaner". I've had countless products over the last two decades because I know I can count on OXO. If you feel the same way, then don't fall for this piece of shit. I deliberately left out the cheaper item with better reviews in order to have a brand I trust. The design is so wonky. like the door hatch is on the wrong side and you have to turn it at an inhuman angle. The way it is pictured is basically upside down
