Description of Painted Italian Ceramic Espresso Raffaellesco
Our espresso coffee cup & saucer is entirely handmade and hand-painted in Deruta, Italy. Its maker is Fima, a well-known artisan who specializes in classic Italian pottery designs. The artisan’s signature is hand-painted on the bottom of each piece. The pattern hand-painted on this small cup and its saucer is Raffaellesco, possibly the most popular Deruta ceramics design. It is named after Raphael, the Italian painter who introduced these decorations in many of his frescoes. Espresso coffee is not just a drink: it’s a moment of pure pleasure. The small cups are as much part of the experience as the coffee itself. Our cups are ideally made of ceramic to keep the espresso hot and preserve its taste and aroma for longer. The shape of our handmade small cups meets the demand of Italian espresso lovers. Its rounded inside allows the coffee to swirl around nicely and the crema to float on top, golden against the white background. The handle is shaped for a perfect grip. The espresso cups and saucers measure 4.7 inches (cup 2.3x2.1h inches). They are made of Deruta ceramic and are hand-painted with food-safe glazes in compliance with US regulations.
