Excellent Camcorder for Beginners

The Panasonic camcorder is a great device for those starting in video recording. The compact size makes it easy to carry around and the quality of the footage shot is excellent. The controls are user-friendly and it's easy to transfer the files to an external computer or device using the USB port. One downside is that it doesn't come with any specialized microphones or lens, but for the price, it's an excellent purchase for those looking to start in electronics filmmaking.

Pros
  • Good quality video and image capture
Cons
  • No longer in production, making it difficult to find replacement parts or accessories.

My favorite camcorder

I LOVE this camcorder. However, my dog literally ate it and found it almost impossible to fix without buying a brand new one (which they no longer make). I use the SD60 now and love it just as much, but it's silver instead of red. If it was RED it would be my favorite. Dual memory was more trouble than it was worth. Use a single chip SD camcorder, but YOU MUST HAVE OPTICAL stabilization. All others pale in comparison. Digital stabilization is a joke.

Pros
  • Secure Digital card recording or 16GB internal hard drive
Cons
  • Not the best

Panasonic TM20 HD for video

The camera takes great videos, the battery life is good. I would recommend getting a wide angle lens and an SD card. The HD software that comes with the camera is not good at all. Windows does not support HD video format. You need to buy editing software. I tried the trial version of Pinnacle Studio Premium Plus and then bought the full version. It's simple and easy to use, similar to Windows Movie Maker but better. HD video consumes a lot of processing power, you must have a good computer. Mac

Pros
  • Full HD video recording; Resolution 1920 x 1080
Cons
  • Only available in white
