Fragile - bent on first use

When it first arrived I compared it to similar sized keys I had 20 years ago. It seemed thinner and of lower quality. I realize this isn't meant to be a pedal wrench, but I needed to remove a relatively stubborn pedal, so I leaned on it a bit. The wrench has twisted. Even after trying to straighten it in a vise, it's now 15.5mm instead of 15mm. The old version of the key would be fine. They don't make them like they used to.

Pros
  • Slim design

too small and too thin

too small and too thin for hard work - you know, not only tight, but superhumanly tight without lubrication. If you don't want your hands cut, scraped and smashed, forget it and just buy separate 13 and 14mm as originally intended. The only reason I got it is that 14 is almost never needed except for the occasional old French bike made with fittings that are too small and flimsy. but now I don't have 13 for the cool ones either.

Pros
  • ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • modern

Not a very good price but the job gets done

the metal should be harder. When I first used the jaws of my wrench, they got a little wrinkled from the edges of the nut. Landing on the nut was sloppy. The width of the jaw should be about 1 mm less. The key is too expensive for what it is. I don't expect it to last more than a few uses, but as a casual rider who only does occasional bike work, the wrench's durability is acceptable. In the end it did the job and didn't cost too much, but I'm not impressed with either the quality or the price.

  • price
Cons
  • packaging is ugly

A must have tool for bike repair!

This is an essential tool for changing and adjusting wheel bearings on regular bikes. Most bikes use 15mm, sometimes the front wheel is 13mm. This tool is very thin, around 1mm, so you can usually adjust the cones on your bike by loosening just one axle nut. But never use it for anything other than tenons, or you could splay your jaws. Like all park tools, if used properly, it will last a lifetime. Park also makes a pedal wrench that is thicker, maybe 2 or 2.5mm, but thin enough to work with…

This key needs to be longer for the lever.

The longitudinal length of this item from tip to tip is approximately 147.7 mm (5.8 inches), leaving little room for the lever. The width of this product needs to be thin to fit between the bike hub and the nearest bolt/wrench combination next to it. However, this leaves a very short and narrow product on which to attempt leverage. Luckily I had a long tube that allowed me to increase the length of this key and give it some width to grip. Without them, trying and using this product would be…

Good wrench - bike tools and maintenance

I have always used sealed bearings but I have just fitted a hub dynamo to a bike using cones and cups. So I needed a cone wrench. I kind of thought for the price it would be a tool to use and serve, but I was wrong! Will stay in my tool box for a while. The fact that this is a park tool speaks for itself. The only complaint is that the dimensional tolerance is quite large. 13mm is actually 13.11mm and 15mm is 15.18mm. So it's rather sloppy on the cone but copes with its task. As long as you…
