Like other Pelican cases I own

Like other Pelican cases I own this one is as good as it gets. The 1430's top-loading case is a bit unusual. If you can put it to good use, it's a good choice, but top-loaders aren't as flexible for multiple uses, so plan for a dedicated case. I use it as a dedicated project case to store hand tools, supplies, and work in progress. Please note that the shoulder strap in the picture is not included.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Modern

Really strong case, suitable for bags and cases

All Pelican cases are strong, but the 1430 top opening geometry makes them extra strong. Pick-to-Fit foam inserts come in three layers so you can customize whatever gear you need to protect. In that case, if she gets there at all, she'll get there safe and sound. The locking option allows for the use of full-length padlocks, so your belongings are secure too. The compromise is not particularly easy. Not super heavy, but not negligible - consider the weight of the fuselage when loading your own…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Disappear

Actually the strap is not included and it is wider than the height

I really need a shoulder strap I just can't find how to contact Revain to let them know it's missing or return it . It must be hidden somewhere on this page! The measurements didn't indicate any direction so I hoped it was taller than it was wide but was less than thrilled as I had to cut the foam to use in stacks rather than long vertical holes which would be just plain stupid. . Noisy because the rings rattle on the side I guess I'll have to bring the bolt cutters to them as I won't be buying

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • hard to tell

I wish there were more top loading options

As per design this product works great: light weight, durable, waterproof. My only problem is not with the Pelican 1430 but with the Pelican itself. I was looking for a top loading case to use as a hard case for my motorcycle (KLR650). The only options were 1430 and 1440. The 1430 is a bit small for my needs, but the 1440 is monstrous and weighs too much to use on a motorcycle. Pelican makes boxes of all sizes. If you want a suitcase style, but for top loading cars, these are the only two…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • I'll add later

Very durable in bags and cases

This was the perfect case for my project. Pelican is known for making the most durable cases and this one certainly is! I used this case to make a portable repeater for our search and rescue team. The case was the perfect size for the radio, a 20Ah LifePO4 battery, a 12V power supply and a charger. Unfortunately, I had to drill holes to securely mount the radio and SO-239 connector, but there was no damage to the body structure. Overall I think the case will last a very long time and protect…

Pros
  • Enjoy
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Good enough for my mother.

I love Pelican cases. It may seem strange, but I actually buried the ashes of two relatives in this particular model. They were buried on my property where I expected to spend the rest of my life, but just in case I did move sometime in the future I just wanted to be able to pick them up easily. Both sets of ashes were in rectangular marble boxes that fit the 1430s perfectly. Life rarely goes as expected, so a few years later I remarried and eventually moved. It was easy to take these boxes out

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Good but not great
