Perfect for hiking Yosemite Half Dome

Bought this for my teenage daughter for the cable car while hiking Yosemite Half Dome. After all, she didn't need it to get up. But on the way down, she said the via ferrata was essential. Its incline is 45 degrees and the granite slope has been honed over the years. So her hiking boots just slipped down the slope. Via ferrata gave her peace of mind. Combined with Black Diamond climbing gloves and Petzl harness, this was the perfect setup for Half Dome.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price

Half Dome Cables: Lanyards and Slings

REQUIRED (in conjunction with appropriate harness) for Half Dome Cables. If you want to plunge into yourself, which is what I recommend you do, this is the only way to do it right. Attaching climbing ropes to carabiners only gives a false sense of security. I am very happy with my purchase, it has helped me climb Half Dome with confidence! Even if you rely on your skills, anything can happen to ropes. The pillar could break out of the rock (I saw). A water bottle or a phone can fall and someone

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Required for Half Dome

If you plan to climb Half Dome, you should purchase this item with your harness. I'm a guy, an avid hiker and in great shape. I had no intention of buying this but my girlfriend made me (for her too) as she felt comfortable on the hike. I'm glad she did. I would consider the cable portion of the Half Dome hike extremely unsafe if they weren't zipped. Unfortunately, most people didn't do that. No one fell, but it's a real risk when you're walking up and down the granite surface at a 65-degree…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires power outlet
