Why have they made so many design changes that aren't good?

Have been using this model for a year now. This redesigned version with the thin plastic tabs that attach the adjustable guard and cutting head has mine in the trash now. One of the tabs holding the cutter head in place broke off on mine. I read the reviews before buying but figured I would be very wary of the downsides of the new design - and I was. It seems that the repeated process of removing the trimmer head to clean cut hair is too much for this model. I was also disappointed that the…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This new model does not correspond to the old model.

Very difficult to clean. First you need to remove the guide, then remove the clipper. It is extremely difficult to clean thoroughly. Unlike the previous model, this machine pulls out my beard. It's noisy. This is my third Philips, the first was great and easy to clean, the second lasted less than a year and the third is really bad.

Pros
  • Excellent workmanship
Cons
  • Large and chunky

Works exactly how a beard trimmer should

Works great. I replaced an old model of the same brand because the battery wore out and no longer holds a charge. The vacuum function catches beard residue so that it does not fall into the sink. This role is important to my wife. The adjustable blade allows me to trim different parts of my beard to different lengths without changing the trimmer head (which I find to be a big problem). seven years, after that I can only use it with the charger connected.

  • Heavy duty construction

Are the good times really over?

I am very disappointed with this trimmer. I've been using Philips vacuum trimmers for about 17-18 years now. I've bought 3 or 4 over the years and loved them. The new version is not nearly as good as the old one. The customization levels are bazaar compared to older versions. The vacuum is not that strong and only has 1 setting while older models had 2 vacuum settings. The old ones were much easier to clean with a simple door panel removal, although after a while I had to use duct tape to keep…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Cheap and easy to break - spares cost the same as new

I really liked this trimmer. Single speed was annoying at first, but I found it worked better at slower speeds. I just used it yesterday and had to empty it during use and the cheap plastic holding the trimmer broke. Had it had a door like the old models, this wouldn't have happened. And a replacement costs $10 less than a new one. Very disappointing

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • No machine

Battery drains quickly

I had an old version of this trimmer. It will include a multiple use fee. The new version is better in many ways, but the battery is much worse. The charge is sufficient for approx. 2 1/5 applications.

Pros
  • Long range
Cons
  • disappears

Good product with one flaw!

I've read that others complain about problems with trimmer plastic because it's cheap and breaks easily, but I figured that won't happen to me as I use my stuff very carefully. I was wrong. Trimmer "legs" broke after no more than 10 uses. Bad design and cheap plastic.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons

Good for a short beard, but disappointed in everything.

The motor appears to be a week old. The block works pretty well on the beard. (If you wear it SHORT and your hair is quite thick) Do not use it on other areas of long and thin hair. The design is good for a shaving head but terrible for cleaning. It is extremely difficult to clean the hair receiver. It's too early to speak about the durability of the rather flimsy plastic mounts (problems have been reported by other users). Since the list of vacuum system trimmers is so limited, you'll have to…

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
