Crystal Set - Headphones

I'm planning to put together an old Crystal radio and have now assembled all the components. The wire winds the coil and as crystal radios are so simple there isn't much to say about the wire other than it is the correct gauge wire and arrived quickly and was as expected.

Cons
  • Annoying

Either defective or simply scrap!

Are they all like that? Plugged in to listen and heard so much interference you can't hear the words on the talk radio this crystal radio I just built is getting. The headphones I used were clean and you could hear that little radio just fine, but the headphones, which would have been a lot more comfortable if they worked, DO NOT WORK!

Works but too small for human ear canal

I wonder if anyone actually fits something like this in their ear canal? Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it should be intuitive, right? Put the part that goes in the ear canal in the ear canal, right? I suspect I ordered the "elephant" version instead. However, when I put it in my ear canal I hear my crystal with it, so it should work.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

CRYSTAL's voice, still charming after 100 years

I build many different radios and related things. Use these headphones with very basic crystal/foxhole sets. Normal price, decent sound and no problems with any of them. This radio is 3D printed by FLASH FORGE (seen on AMAZON) and uses a coil and germanium diode also from AMAZON. Good ground, sufficiently long antenna (both with the same cable as the coil) and you can hear local AM broadcasts. No matter how much I'm doing, it's always fun when the noise softens and the voice or music is clearโ€ฆ
