Very well made, stylish oil bowl

beautiful oil bowl. I wish the grip was a little deeper hence four stars instead of five. Otherwise, it holds European-sized butter wellโ€”about an eighth of an inch. OK, not much weight. Good grip although it's very smooth - it doesn't slip if you hold it by one of the edges. Fits perfectly on the fridge door. Made in France. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • oil bowl
Cons
  • expensive

European is better. It was regularly available in my market.

American and European oils are not the same. European is better. It's been sold regularly in my market since 2000, but has a shape (I'd call it buttered bread) twice the width of an American butter stick. 99.5% of all oilers available on the US market are made to fit the American wand. European bread and butter is placed in a large pillut butter dish. It's firm, clean, neutral white and satisfies my need for European buttercream on my desk. It's not cheap, but for me it's worth the price.

Great big oil pan and lid!

That sounds crazy. because you think an oil pan is an oil pan. However, this is not always the case. quite a bit of time. Our Danish butter (LURPAK) is about 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 1 1/2". And many of the oil pans just weren't big enough. Or if they were big enough, they were barely big enough which could result in you breaking the oil every time you put the lid on or off, or they were designed with a depression that the lid enters and that catches the oil, which then falls on the lid and thenโ€ฆ
