I decided to keep it even though the tuning knob doesn't work (scan button works) because the sound and reception of these radios is really good for the price are. It was advertised as used so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, the main purpose was to get a weather radio.

Came without an internal battery (300mAh NiMH battery, which the generator handle stores energy in). So I must have 3 AA batteries in the radio to make it work as the alternator will not power the radio without an internal battery, I am trying to get a third party battery as my local radio shop tells me they are no longer made and cannot supply me the correct size internal battery.

Radio Shack Emergency AM/FM/WX Crank Radio does what it says on the tin! Very good VHF reception, strong WX and AM signal better than much more expensive radios, Houston daytime reception of the San Antonio stations KTSA (550) and WOAI (1200) with quality that is still audible. Nice radio in red with good enough sound from a decent speaker. I use it with AA batteries and rechargeable as a backup. Small LCD lamp plus. Paid $15.00 including shipping, no doubt: 5 stars for this price!

Outer packaging was worn but intact. Battery was connected when I opened it. Insert (3) regular AA batteries into unit and power on AM/Shift button FM/WX not working Paging/Voice button not working AM/FM Scan button not working Digital display turns on showing FM is tuned at 87.5MHz and dial on top it doesn't change Digital display stays on even though it's off I don't want to try to plug anything into the USB charger for fear it might damage what I'm plugging in. What a shame.
