My daughter needed some comfortable stretch shorts to wear over her bottom. She is 11, average height. We ordered size L and they fit perfectly. They have not thinned or become translucent despite being worn in the pool and washed many times. They are cool!

I expected them to be of thicker material. They look like thick nylon stockings, not spandex shorts. I originally ordered them for one of my daughters to play volleyball, but they are too thin for that. However, my other daughter does gymnastics and likes to wear them over her tracksuit swimsuit, so we kept them.
