Built-in switch broken

Spend your money elsewhere. I only used this product for a few months (casual use, non-commercial) before the built in circuit breaker failed. Unfortunately, my coil is ceiling mounted (15ft+) and extremely difficult to access in its current position. I was able to reset the switch once, but the second time it worked it didn't reset. At the time I was using a Craftsman table saw (rated at 1hp) which is well below the saw's advertised maximum current of 15 amps. Status October 10, 2020: I have…

It is strong enough to be used outdoors on a work truck.

After moving to a newer work truck I was forced to keep my first original 40 foot cable with 12 gauge spool. It has been installed on the trunk of a truck (passage side) next to my gas generator for the last 3 years and still counts. The new one was also mounted on the truck's pillar, but this time further back to allow easier access to workstations closer to the rear of the truck. We also just bought a 65ft model and installed it on the driver's side and hardwired direct from the gas generator

  • Good cause

Works perfectly, the coloring is lame.

Edit: Wanted to update the image. I painted it black and it turned out really nice. You can see a few wet spots where I touched it up. At first I wanted to completely disassemble the block to feel it, but I noticed that the spool was being pressed against the shaft on one side of the case. Not wanting to break the block I just reassembled it without a short wire and breaker button. Painted and then reinstalled. Good news for those who care, the switch can easily be bypassed if necessary. Mine…

There is no fastening method!

FYI - No screws are included for standard garage mounting. The kit included a bolt, nut and washer. Why the heck would I put a nut and bolt on my drywall? Not sure about mounting this on the wall of my garage! Instructions are garbage. It's also a sliding mount (think the back of surge arresters) so it doesn't look like it's permanently attached to the wall. If the device is pulled/pushed up, it detaches from the wall. There is a center hole that isn't a sliding bracket, but with less than 2…

So far I love this thing

So far I love this thing. Only time will tell how it will hold up, but for now I'm happy. I do quite a bit of DIY and use my cable spools (5 cable spools total) religiously to make sure there are no cables lying on the floor. This one offers 65 feet, which is 15 feet longer than most while still being 12 AWG. I can use my large 9" angle grinder to sharpen hedge trimmer blades with no problem by tripping the internal switch (all my factory circuits are 20 amps). I immediately cut off the…

Long and Heavy Duty

I have many outlets in my garage but they are all on the walls and often impractical for what I do in the middle of the garage. like car sucking. With this extension cord reel from ReelWorks, I now have an extension that is basically out of the way, yet still reaches every corner of the garage and beyond. I took a 65 foot version of the ReelWorks 12 gauge coil and mounted it about halfway down the ceiling. This means if I need to hook something up in my driveway the cord reel is solidly built…

Seems to do the job (and advice to remove the bracket)

First of all I would like to be honest and say that I have just received this cable spool. I wanted the length and 12ga cord for heavier pulling tools like my table saw and compressor. The length extends into the driveway and allows me to reach a truck parked some distance away (actually about 65 feet, it turns out). The 12ga cable seems to handle whatever I connect without issue. Doesn't heat up. I installed it from the ceiling near the optional garage door opener. It's a little big compared…
