Description of Retekess TR103 Digital Portable Radio Receiver

Retekess TR103 is a compact device that is comparable in size to a push-button telephone. The pocket radio has a retractable antenna, a quality speaker and a microSD card slot for listening to recorded music or mp3 audiobooks. Using the jack 3.5 connector, you can connect headphones or active acoustics to the receiver. Retekess TR103 is equipped with a built-in 600 mAh battery, and charging is carried out using a microUSB cable. One full charge is enough for 4-5 hours of use. Despite this, the volume of the built-in speaker is enough to listen to the radio in a small room or even on the street; if necessary, you can connect external speakers via a 3.5 mm jack. The receiver supports FM / AM and SW bands, the connection remains stable due to the retractable antenna 247.5 mm long. The control is carried out using three large buttons on the front panel, they allow you to switch stations and pause tracks. On the right side of the receiver are buttons + and - to adjust the volume, as well as a menu button to switch modes. On the right is a toggle switch to turn the Retekess TR103 on and off.

Everything is fine, there are only minor drawbacks.

About the good: 1. Sensitivity on FM - on a pair of microantenna "knees" 10 km from the transmitting tower in the private sector, all kilowatt transmitters are confidently received 2. The headphone wire works as an FM antenna (but not HF) 3. Sensitivity at medium waves - the receiver has a very small magnetic antenna, but this does not interfere with receiving air beacons during the day, and in the evening / night time several dozen foreign radio stations (in the private sector) About the bad:

Pros
  • Small size, tuner for medium and short waves in am, extended fm. The player "remembers" the break point in the mp3 file - suitable for audiobooks.
Cons
  • Dazzling backlight, poor reception on low-frequency HF bands, very "loud" sound in player mode.
