It does what it's supposed to do: cool the router. Mine runs at around 60C now and was around 80C before installation. It can be a bit noisy: you can increase/decrease the speed of the fans. In my case I reduced the speed until it was barely audible. The router temperature stayed at 60F. My router broke so I bought it. In the end, I don't know if it was a fan or a firmware update, but my router no longer freezes.

Great little block, my CPU dropped 30% and both the 2.4 and 5GHz radios dropped about 20%. You can hear it when it's on on the Max, but if you're streaming video or music you won't hear it at all. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to double the lifespan of their router.

Every week or two you will need to brush over the top. I guess I play around with it and turn on the fan when I get bored.

ASUS should buy truckloads of these and put them in these routers. The thing works great at my temperature, we're 78-82°C all the time. After installation and only one working fan, they barely audibly dropped to 58C!. A temperature drop of 20°C is great and will definitely extend the life of your router. Great product, one of the few that does exactly what it says on the tin. If you have a GT-AC 2900, I recommend buying it. I can't speak for other versions, but I'm willing to bet they're just…

I've learned that if a router or modem lasts more than 3 years, the cost of fans is worth the investment. I ALWAYS buy my telecom equipment, not rent it. I've invested in a good Asus AC88U router so I wanted it to stay cool so it wouldn't freeze. I haven't done this before and my router usually fails after 2-4 years.
