This is exactly the width I was looking for after getting fed up with regular dustpans that didn't fit my 12 inch rubber broom. So the size is big but the plastic quality is not the best. We use a week - the middle of the handle is already cracked.

I sweep the floor with a wide brush and pick up my Aussie's hair off the floor. Think big piles of dog hair tumbleweed. This is the BEST dustpan, wide and deep. Ideal for dog hair. I am an animal rescuer and have 3 cats of my own and 2 adopted cats. Incredible solution for cleaning the tray ;-)! I don't know about others either, but I usually need a dustpan when I'm scattering things that are flying around like dry cat food or other loose litter. The large, deep scoop opening is great for catching loose particles so you don't have to worry about them falling back out of the pan. Also very durable!
