Well made and extra large, fits my son's Asus G75 17.3" laptop. With 2 steel rods on the back for more stability.

Incredible bag. It may be small and feel like a regular backpack, but the versatility of being able to expand and have waist straps is a huge plus. I have a small shabby butt, but that's not critical. Would and probably will buy many more of these bags.

If you really need a backpack for 3 days and 72 hours, save some more money and buy a 5.11 bag. It's "ok" for light use, but it doesn't stand up to everyday abuse. The main zipper broke after 2 months and the material is not very good in my opinion. For the city dweller who rarely uses a backpack, this will work. For everyday activities, camping or BOB, buy a 5.11 or other premium bag. Spend your money however you want, but I work hard and want quality for my money.

I was looking for a large first aid/casualty bag because the one I currently have is too small and doesn't fully close the main compartment. This bag is perfect, strong enough, with an internal frame on the back, and the main compartment is very roomy, perfect for large bandages, and I bought four empty first aid kits to fill and put in. Overall exactly what I was looking for. Also suitable as a bag to protect against insects.

January 2016: Great bag, deducted one star because the material is different from other SOC bags. This is a slightly lighter material. UPDATE: May 2016. I compared my bag to the 'same' bag on BX. My bag is made of a lighter material. The case with the same model number sold at BX is made of the same thick material as my black SOC. I thought this stuff would work. Also BX sells it for $89. This bag was not available locally when I needed it for my assignment. I thought it was just the pattern…
