Great in Lenses

I was willing to pay a few hundred bucks more for a lens that was exactly what I wanted. But it had the right specs and that's why I jumped. It's been great so far, after about 1500 photos. The image stabilization is really good and the shots are sharp, especially in the medium aperture and zoom range. Sometimes color fringing can occur, but that's not too bad and is easily fixed in photo editing apps that do. Overall very satisfied and would buy again although wish it was a bit wider as 5.6 x…

General purpose lenses: SLR lenses

The range meets most of my daily needs and the HSM is fast and quiet. Images are sharp, but there's not as much bokeh (as you'd expect). I've read many reviews complaining about the operating system's "noise", but my copy seems to make very minimal noise - I can only hear the noise if I put my ear to the lens and really try to listen. Great hiking goggles

Okay, maybe not perfect, but damn good and you can't beat the price. I'm the little guy who takes the 60D with me on long trips. Things get very difficult very quickly. If I had my own drum kit I would take that, my 50mm Canon f1.4 and Canon wide angle. But at the end of the day, the 64-year-old's shoulder will explode. Versatile, powerful and affordable, but beware of potential autofocus issues

(see my update at the bottom of this review). Zoom of some sort to go with it. For a versatile lens, the modest 18-125mm range this zoom offers, from moderately wide-angle to moderately telephoto, sounded very appealing. I don't really like sports or wildlife photography, so I've avoided affordable superzoom lenses not only because of the cost, but also because of the weight, size, and image quality.
