Description of Vintage Burgundy Rectangle Placemats by Simhomsen

Looks great on cherry wood table or furniture; do not look good on white or light color or glass top table. The circles are a burgundy tulle, which is see-through; the lace is beige color. Victorian style, vintage look. Machine or hand wash in warm or cold water; slightly iron; do not shrink. It's only used as decorations; material is not thick enough for heat insulation to protect table or furnitures.

Stunningly beautiful but a bit small

I really like their design. They are so cute and beautifully made but barely reach 12 inches. It seems more appropriate to call them napkins than serviettes. I wish they were a little bigger but still round. I would still encourage sales but just be prepared to use them as decorative items instead of doilies.

Great for serviettes

While this is NOT old fashioned handmade lace it will certainly fit. I have one that covers a small table and the others are put away when it can no longer be cleaned. Remember that the outer lace is actually a straight, embellished piece of lace that is then attached and folded to give it a rounded shape. But it's so well done that I don't mind at all.

Pros
  • Kitchen and Table Linen
Cons
  • Expensive

Pretty placemats and tablecloths

These are beautiful placemats and look very elegant, but be careful as they are very thin. If you plan to put a cup of hot coffee or a plate on it, be sure to put a thicker plain napkin under it so that it does not damage the table. I am very happy with them. I haven't tried washing them, but I think you need to hand wash them in cold water.

Pros
  • Napkins
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
