Everything seems to be in order. I can't charge the device at all, which leads me to suspect that something is wrong with the charging station. It might have been damaged in some way which is why it was given to me. I will keep the charging adapter cable for a possible future need for another device.

I bought this to try and find a replacement for my nephew's old PSP charger, at least until I could find a much better one. To our chagrin, it didn't work at all. It only costs about $5, so I was expecting some crappy hardware, but the adapter could very well be, and probably is, a plastic toy. Absolutely not worth buying. Return it as soon as possible.

At first I thought it was broken as the light only worked for a few seconds. I have two systems, 2001 and 3001. This works for both. Just make sure you insert it fully into the charging port. I think I didn't insert it deep enough to begin with (didn't want to break or damage it), it was a bit loose. From the second time everything worked perfectly. I've only had mine for a week so can't say how long it will last (weeks, months, years etc) but so far so good.
