sound sometimes buttons never work

A friend of mine bought these a few years ago and really liked them. I needed headphones and thought I'd try them. When I received them they worked perfectly. It is now August and I received them at the end of June. The buttons stopped working, it started a few weeks ago. I can paste them but there doesn't seem to be a connection. I have sound but I can't hear anything when I press the buttons. Also, the audio starts to drop out as if the connection is completely lost because it's not fully…
