The best way to collimate a telescope!

This is probably the best way to collimate your telescope. Maintenance free and very simple. It works and is very durable. Your focuser and has excellent instructions and illustrations for it. it works for reflectors and Cassegrain telescopes (although I only use reflectors and my rating is based on that.) This product is definitely better than laser collimators because you don't have to collimate it like you would with a laser It's safe to say, that you should get this if you are a beginner.

Pros
  • Special eyepiece to fit 11/4" focusers or lenses.
Cons
  • So far so good

Works well. Low price. Feels very solid. .

Works well. Low price. Feels very solid. As difficult and frustrating as collimation can be, this eyepiece makes it easy. The only criticism of this eyepiece is that it is so compact that the reticle is so close to the eye. The reticle is so blurry when looking through it at the center donut that it is difficult to place it exactly in the center of the donut. It's not impossible, it just takes a little longer to get used to than I originally thought. I just collimated my newt in the light and…

Pros
  • When collimating a refractor, insert the Cheshire directly into the focuser.
Cons
  • Protection

Poor design Accessories

I wasn't expecting an accurate device but its assembly is so poor that I had to comment. About a third of the diagonal of the reflector was covered with some kind of cement. I think it was CA glue. This caused that part of the image to turn black when attempting to collimate. I tried removing it with mineral spirits but that didn't work so I used acetone and let it soak. It worked if you rubbed a little with a swab. The crosshair is ridiculously large, so I removed it to erase the diagonal. I…

Pros
  • The collimation eyepiece is more accurate than a simple collimation instrument
Cons
  • Obsolete model
