Other reviewers are right about the product, how it should be used and what the benefits are. I purchased as part of the transition from Gillette Fusion and its ridiculously expensive blades to a single blade safety razor (Merkur with Feather blades). What I found is that I need about 5-6 drops (three doesn't cut) of Somersets to cover my face. At the same time, even with six drops of oil a day, I have enough for at least six months.

I have been using this product for about 20 years now but no longer. A few years ago I noticed that the oil used to be thick and spread well on the face, now it takes longer as I'm convinced it was diluted with water. In addition, the oil dries out over time, even in an unopened bottle. I wrote to the company last year mentioning this as I brought 6 bottles at a time and only one bottle was half decent and three of them were just completely dry. I found a good replacement. I am fed up with some and this product is the best of all. I apply it before the shaving cream. Refreshes your face. It really made a difference with razor burn.

This is really cool stuff! Two, three drops and you have a great shave. I'm new to using a double edge razor and this shaving oil makes my shave incredibly smooth and non-irritating. No redness or cuts, even with repeated use on the same area. I also use shaving foam, but I'm convinced that just this oil and some warm water will give you a good shave. It's that good and it works with any razor. My friend also uses it when she shaves her legs and says it prevents irritation and cuts on her shins

Tried other shaving oils and they hardly helped. Somersets for sensitive skin convinced me. I use it under cup soap and it makes a difference. When I'm in a hurry, I can only shave with this oil. It also cools the face after shaving.

I first got into this while traveling around the world in the 90's. It was great for that, but when I got home I went back to foam. Finally found it works just as well at home as it does on the go. A bottle lasts me about a year, I shave every 2-3 days, no mess and feel good. Only need hot water to clean razor blades.
