Sony DCR-SX44 Flash Memory Handycam Camcorder (No Longer in Production) Review

I bought this camcorder and was surprised that it doesn't come with a USB cable, I mean all camcorders should come with it these days. Amazon's product page never says it's not included. I took a few photos on the internal storage and found that you can not take them off without a cable, now you have to order.

Great camera if you don't want the video to be posted on video sharing sites like Vimeo or YouTube as the picture quality isn't the best, although I they still use it for that purpose. And of course it won't be the best since it's a standard definition camera. But the microphone and zoom are excellent. I like this camera but it's just average.

This is a good little camcorder for the money. We bought it for videos, not photos, so we didn't try it. We have a separate camera for that. It's easy to use and just what we needed for personal use. I like the internal storage with the ability to add more from the map. It would have been nice to have a viewfinder as the LCD screen is a bit difficult to see in daylight. Can recommend this camera.

Sony. The best brand. Great little camera. Neat and compact. I wouldn't recommend it for still photography, but capturing a picture from video is a fantastic feature when the subject isn't moving. I remember having a video camera with video cassettes with me. It was good for its time but WOW what a joy it was with the Handycam! Shooting video was easy. I could push a button, quietly aim a camera, and overhear conversations at a birthday party.
