It is necessary. Wait for surge filter

I no longer go camping without it, there are already too many electronics in mobile homes and replacing them is expensive. This surge protector checks the circuit before you plug the RV in and then continues to monitor the system for high and low current surges. You can see at a glance if it's working, when the green light is on you're done.

Cons
  • Doesn't everything fit

Must be! in Power Strips and Surge Protectors

My wife and I just bought a new TT. We wanted something that would protect our investment. Glad we did that. At the campsite we were at a wire broke and the surge protector plugged it in and didn't power our TT. We contacted the campsite management and asked them to fix the faulty ground wire and all was fine. The best money to protect our investments.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Requires modification to attach cable

Why does the RV cable exit have a flip cap? The lid does not offer any weather protection during operation and the device will not stand outdoors without a cable. The cap prevented my connector from being fully inserted, so I removed the cap after finding the correct size Torx screwdriver. But I love the features especially the BT remote so I can see the options in the trailer.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Very expensive

We used this product on our last outing in August 2019. It was in action during a thunderstorm protecting our van. There were several strong lightning strikes around the campsite. I knew the Southwire Surge Guard would take care of the surges. People 2 locations from us didn't have a similar surge protector and lost their inverter/charger. Thank you Southwire. The Southwire Surge Guard is worth every dollar.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Can't remember but something happened

That my electronics are safer than before

Very easy to use. Yes it's expensive, you get what you pay for, but I think it could have been cheaper. I spend a lot of money on quality products, I just feel this one is particularly cheaply made. Do you think it will take long? Yes! I find it awkward? Yes! Is he doing his job? Yes! I recommend this product to anyone who cares about their motorhome's electronics (e.g. air conditioning, TV, etc.).

Pros
  • Analyzes the socket to ensure it is in proper electrical condition before turning on the RV
Cons
  • Unsafe

It just paid for itself, but a box converter was too late.

So we hesitated for about a year to decide if we would spend the money to buy one of these. We've decided we don't need it. We were wrong. At some point, I don't know when, we plugged into a dirty power grid and set fire to the converter box in our RV. It took us a while to figure out what the problem was as we regularly smelled "hot wires". After $300 (new circuit/converter box) and a few days in extreme heat to replace the burned box, we took the plunge and bought this one. On the next tripโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Permanent protection against low and high voltage as well as low and high frequency.
Cons
  • So far so good
