Don't buy cheap

So pleased with my hammer I bought one for a friend as a gift. For that, I considered the cheaper versions from the two big stores, but decided to spend the extra money on these. You need a tool heavy enough to hold comfortably in your hand. You also want it to STAY in your hand. The handle does both - both it and the handle absorb quite a bit of energy when we're splitting logs, so our hands don't hurt after about an hour of this fun party.

Pros
  • Anti Vibration Handle
Cons
  • Weight

I used this with a matching FatMax chisel to enlarge a hole in a concrete wall. My alternatives were to spend a few hundred dollars to hire someone to do it with a diamond crown, or buy my own crown, use it once and find a place to store it. Using this manual method, it took me about an hour to break down what I needed. Give it a try: I've been working on a ladder and hitting from above, so I'd probably be better off with a lighter version of this hammer.

Pros
  • Tools and Household Products
Cons
  • Requires socket wrench

Serious Concrete Breaker

I never thought I would be fascinated by something as mundane as a sledgehammer. I demolished a backyard playground that we built over 20 years ago that had numerous support posts embedded in the concrete. It takes a lot of work to dismantle that concrete and break it up for easy disposal. I decided I needed a sledgehammer to break the concrete pieces. The Fatmax sleds arrived and I was happy with their design and construction, but I wasn't planning on rolling rocks. To my surprise, this tool…

Pros
  • Sledgehammer
Cons
  • You could go for a newer model

Nice whacker with a big sweet spot.

With multiple acres and outbuildings, I'm getting tired of looking for tools... so I'm buying more. I was trying to knock some spindle shafts out of a John Deere self-propelled mower and using hammers it looked like I was rounding off the top...making reassembly difficult with the new bearings in place. This little hammer has a nice patch on one head that made removal so easy I wish I had to do twelve more. Somehow, a large amount of blunt force was quickly placed exactly where I wanted it, and

Pros
  • Hammers

  • There are other interesting options.
