cables and heads are of very good quality. I just made the mistake of buying the crossword version of what I really wanted. I could cut off one end and wire it up however I wanted. Ha! I just ordered the right thing and threw this one in the drawer.

This is a good cable - well made and old school gray - perfect if you want to relive the computing life of the 80's and 90's. It's more than just aesthetic, it's also good if you want to connect some devices from that era. Although StarTech doesn't provide a pinout, I can confirm that the cable will work as a plotter cable (you can google a plotter cable pinout to see how these are wired). Not sure about hardware handshaking as my HP 7574A doesn't use it.

Having trouble finding a crossover cable that will work with a receipt printer. I tried 5 or 6 different cables listed as modem crossover cables and none of them worked. I tried this cable and was pleased when the printer immediately connected to the computer and printed a test page followed by receipts. If you need a crossover cable to connect your printer to your computer, this inexpensive cable is perfect.
