It is very sharp, but the blade needs to be sharpened more than 50 times to keep it from rubbing against the skin. Pieces of a badger brush cling to the skin and the razor catches them. The stand is beautiful. Disposable blades are better than this razor.

A whetstone must be bought to sharpen the blade. It requires a lot of time and a professional set of studies and videos. I had to spend an extra $60 on tools to get him to shave and I still can't shave my face with it. I would recommend a sharper razor to start with, the price is worth it because you will be paying more for this product than for a prepped and ready to use one.

The set was very nice and well finished as was the razor handle. However, the material the blade is made of won't hold the blade no matter how hard you sharpen it (it wasn't shave ready either). Maybe I just got one that wasn't hardened and hardened properly, or they're all like that. For this purchase you are really only buying a good shaving set and a not so good razor.

I was very happy with this set as the brush, holder and even the razor look very nice. It came yesterday but I've spent at least 5 hours on this blade. I've sharpened it with Shapton glass stones (about the best and most expensive whetstones you can get) from 1000 to 16000 grit, I've lapped it with my green paste putty knife for at least 300 rounds and I still can't shave it, don't pull hair out.
