The best thing I can say about Tandy's awl is that it was metal. That's all. The tip was bent, not bent, bent. It was blunt on both the tip and sides as it didn't attempt to sharpen at all.

It's smaller than you think. This blade was designed to work with fine stitches and small needles and threads. If you are making purses or other small items, this is a good size. Order one size up for heavier items such as holsters, pouches, etc.

The blade of this saddle awl has become completely blunt, which is to be expected. After about an hour of work, it started to take shape a bit, but the angle was a bit off. I decided to check again and found a CS Osborn product and ordered another $1.00. Doesn't matter. Don't waste your time with this and go straight to a much better product that CS sells.
