Warm and durable socks. Thick and comfortable, so make sure your boots/shoes have enough room to move. Size 1-3 for toddlers was very inconsistent. I was concerned that the socks would be too big for my 18 month old who wears size 5 (toddler) shoes. After a lot of washing and drying, some of the socks were still too big (I just pulled them up to my knees and they were ok), while others fit well. So impermanence. We bought a medium size striped set (4-7 years) and a small size kitty set (1-3 years). While medium fits "well" on my 4 year old daughter's small feet, they are still a little big, but 4-7 year old is a wide range of ages and sizes.
