Not thick nylon, soft to the touch, which is very comfortable when tying a knot. I have a feeling he's strong enough to do the job.

Ties are durable however the laces that come with them don't seem to be that durable. I'm not sure what happened during the delivery, but the delivery of the goods was delayed for more than a week.

Not that you can twist the nylon strap but the problem here is the leather at the end catching your saddle. It's like a faux leather strap on a suit that snaps instantly. You will definitely have to replace it. There is absolutely no durability and I wouldn't trust that.

Do not buy. The weave is too coarse to be used as a latigo, I don't see how it can slide freely. I returned it. It might work for a tactical sling or something. Also, it only has 2 holes where it attaches to the saddle rather than the traditional 3 holes and the tail is cut straight rather than tapered which disappoints me.
