Very dissatisfied with this product.

I bought this video cleaning cartridge from a local store yesterday to clean our VCR because the picture was jumping and jumping and I couldn't find my other head cleaner. Well this one is going back to the store and I'll find one just like my old one. Today I ran it through my VCR 5 times and when something happened the picture got even worse. As far as I know it was a waste of money.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive

Hard to say if it really works, but I can't complain about the price. I bought new VHS tapes and re-recorded them; I get jumps and the tape automatically ejects because it reaches a point where it can no longer be played. So I end up moving past some spots on the tape, it works fine. Again - not sure if a video cleaner is meant to prevent cracking; it may be due to the quality of VHS tapes. I have a liquid cleaner and I think it could be better. I have had this product for several months now.

Not every cleaner fits every VCR

I must have OCD or something. About 30 years ago I started building a video library on tape that grew monstrously to about 2700 tapes (you heard that right) before about 5 years ago I started converting everything to DVD. Dozens of VCRs were garbled during this project, and it turns out that 80's VHS tapes in general had TERRIBLE problems with MUDA accumulation, which is why I've been using head cleaners ALL THE TIME lately - wet, dry, wet and dry - and I've found that every VCR has certain…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
