It's just not effective at combing. Another reviewer said it was like "scratching jelly" and I tend to agree. He has no teeth, so he doesn't scratch or tickle his back. It's like gently rubbing your back up and down with a stick. Hard pressing doesn't really help because first of all it has nothing to scratch. Definitely the most disappointing back scraper I've tried.

I have been using a pair of bamboo back scratchers with great pleasure for a number of years. Finally my dog managed to find one on the floor and treated it like a bone. I recently ordered two more and they arrived today. I test them and they are great. I read some reviews that said the wood is rough and might even give you spinners. I didn't think so at all. They were well made and surprisingly thick.

. And that's a really low price from Revain. As others have pointed out, 17 inches isn't really that long for a back scratcher. Mine has a lot of other problems too. There are many coarse fibers that seem to tear into splinters. The "head" is cut off completely wrong. Mine is cut so thin on one side it's missing that "tooth" and the other side is so thick it's like trying to scratch your back with an eraser. The extensions aren't as good as I thought either.
