Happy with my first base station

I use tyt th-9800 plus as base station. I have several HTs but this is my first base/mobile device. It can pick up weaker signals and reach more repeaters than the handhelds I have. antenna and have the controls on my desk. It came with a short cord to separate the head and body, but I have a 50ft cord that runs from the closet to my desk and it works great. It uses an RJ11 telephone cable, not an RJ45 Cat5 network cable. Just make sure you have a cable with all 6 wires (RJ11 6P6C). This radio…

Not worth the money. Buy Made in USA

I was attracted to this radio because of the four frequency bands but the first one I bought didn't work at all and I had to contact Revain to have it replaced. The second one worked great for a while, but after only 1 year it just stopped working. When connected to a computer writes "device not recognized". It's a great radio, but if it only lasts 1 year then it's not worth the money. Another problem I had was that since it is made in China, it is very difficult to get the necessary updates…

Worth the money

I was initially skeptical about buying this radio but decided to take a chance and try it myself. The radio appears to be well made, includes all the parts you need to remove the head and put it in your car. It was an easy install and I didn't forget to replace the fuses with better ones. The radio seems to work great, easy to program by hand or you can use the cable provided and use the chirp to program it. I've been told it sounds clear and I can't find anything wrong with it, I think time…

Build in quality radios

Little things don't work, like connecting to a computer. Tried 3 different cables, 2 different machines (mac and windows 10) and 3 different programs (chirp, what's in the box and more from the web). Contacting the seller revealed that anything that didn't work with this radio was something I was doing wrong. I programmed 15 different radio stations without any problems. Sometimes there would also be glitches in the transmission and total distortion, or the radio would go off like a time bomb…

  • Excellent overall performance

Superb quad band radio

Not sure what or why some of the specs really apply. How do you rate transparency or thickness? Well, the radio isn't that thick, maybe less than 2 inches. The size is well suited for a cellular device as it has a detachable faceplate. But I use it as a base station with a 23 amp TekPower PSU and it seems to work great. I haven't tried any bands other than VHF but I have a TYT quad band antenna and it can accommodate distant repeaters and ham radio operators from neighboring states. This is the

Decent for the money

Good build quality, buttons and front buttons. Supplied per FCC requirements for 2 meters and 440 (70 cm). They can be unlocked if you dare and the settings are only available with factory software. Runs on Windows 10, software works perfectly. WARNING! There are two ways to unlock frequencies like Baofeng, but be careful if you use CHIRP, all settings will be lost when you create a MOD. I have kept an image of the original factory software and options. Then I imported the radio and saved these
