Heat is no problem for me

High-speed data transfer requires a lot of power. So the heat is inevitable. The ULBRE CFe Reader already has an aluminum housing for heat dissipation. As long as you don't use it for a long time, it won't heat up to an unbearable temperature. This is the best I've found on Amazon. You should get one too.

Pros
  • Plug & Play, free driver installation
Cons
  • Only available in black

Do not leave connected to the computer after use!

I have not read all the reviews that people have commented on the heat generated by this card reader. I plugged it into a port on my monitor and didn't unplug it. Many days after using it, I accidentally touched it and it was very, very hot. Terribly hot. I will now ONLY attach it when I need to download CR3 files to my computer and then quickly remove it.

Pros
  • CFexpress 10Gbps Professional Card Reader
Cons
  • Autoless

Works well but gets very hot

I use this to transfer large RAW files from a Nikon Z 7ii to my iMac. Each file is almost 60MB, so it takes some time to transfer 300 or more files after one photo session. This is normal, but what surprised me was how hot the card reader was when all the files were finally transferred. I made sure it had cooled down a bit before putting it back in the bag. Other than that it did the job I needed it for and I appreciate the minimal size and the fact that there are two cords.

Pros
  • USB 3.1 Gen2 USB-A and USB-C Cable
Cons
  • So-so
