Looks like sturdy metal tripod legs. Got my long selfie stick up. When closed, this offers a good grip, but the legs do not meet exactly flush. It's a bit out of the way and you have to fiddle with it. One of the legs is slightly looser than the others. I tightened the hex head but it did nothing. It's nice of them to turn on the hex key. So I loosened it a hair and now they all stretch and fold the same way with the same less tension. I'll update if I come across a broken screw as many do, but

I liked that the stand is all metal/aluminium. It feels sturdy and well constructed. I also liked that the legs fold almost flat, which lowers the center of gravity for more stability. They were also longer than most, which added extra stability. The only thing I didn't like was that the screw that acts as a tensioner for the legs was loose. Received mine today well ahead of scheduled 7 day ground ship blah blah. He's really strong! The legs unfold smoothly and with little resistance typically found on high-end machines.
