The sides are soft, but cardboard can be inserted if necessary. I used 2 to wrap handmade blankets from relatives. They didn't need extra stabilization and I was able to fold them. The cubby they were in looks much better and I feel they are well protected. I used the other one for casual wear. They are not too big, and if the folded clothes go not only into the punches, but also into the slot, then everything will be neat and not uneven.

I don't usually write reviews but I needed to help someone clear any doubts about this great package. I ordered a set of these storage bags back in June 2020 and was blown away by the strength, durability and resilience of my quilt sets. I'm trying to start storing winter clothes. My goal is to wash everything before I put it away for the summer and then tidy up the closet. It was good, for the price I personally found another container that better suited my needs. They are beautiful and save a lot! I cannot store my winter duvets and king size duvets in these bags as there is no stability insert in the bottom. However, they are great for throws, pillows, clothing, etc., but not king bed linen.

For the price, they are more than adequate for my purposes. I use them to store linens, mostly pillows. For heavier items, you can reinforce the bottom as they are somewhat flexible. They don't have amplification, but I easily solved this problem for a dollar. I bought a 2-pack of flat, clear plastic cutting boards for $1 from Dollar Tree.
