Revitalize Your Pine Car with the Derby Micro-Polishing System Review

As others have said this is a very handy polishing kit for Pine Derby axles. Much easier than buying all the sandpaper or files yourself.

It's my first time using this type of products but it definitely affected the car's performance last year. I spent about 4-5 minutes on the axle and added some dry graphite. Reducing the frontal drag of the wheels significantly affected speed.

This is a nice little Pinewood Derby axle polishing system. It gives you clear instructions and provides you with all the necessary tools. Buying all of these individually would be a hassle and cost three times as much. All materials are not very high quality, but they serve their purpose. My son's car has won its stash! And this kit should last for at least 4-6 cars, so we'll definitely be using this kit for a few more years. I just have to remember where we store it every year ;)

Delivery was quick and at a good price so the seller did a good job. but the kit itself is in another store. The magnifying glass was cheap and didn't really help much. I have pretty amazing eyesight, although I may be more of a help to others. The file was bulky and had to be used mainly because it was cheap. The sandpaper assortment was probably the best part of the kit for me. I would recommend the seller again but I would advise you to rush things a bit and go to your local hardware store…

I used to make sprocket axles for Pack Pinewood Derby races but found our package doesn't allow them (check your package rules). I stayed up until 12pm before the race and polished the new "No Notch" set. We won the Pack Fastest prize out of 37 cars! Tip: Buy a $1.99 rubber-handled metal file from Harbor Freight to handle the heavy deburring and combing (and head beveling) before using the small included file for final cleaning before polishing.
