The slots are too large to securely hold 6-thread DMC embroidery thread. It is necessary to wrap one of the tabs several times or back and forth to get a more secure hold.

I bought a DMC organizer, it had some plastic bobbins in it but of course I ran out of them. So I went with this one as the price for 100 seemed fair. I got them and they are definitely thicker than DMC. They are fairly durable and easier to write on than DMC. The small cables included in the kit also come in handy for organizing projects. They come in a resealable package.

I had about 6,000 balls of embroidery thread and they all got tangled. I used wooden clothespins for the coil. (It works.) But I saw it and ordered them on a whim. I wish so much I had her sooner. I've spent the last week looking at old TV shows and winding coils and I can honestly say that not only are these brainlessly easy to use, they're pretty much perfect in every way.
