I shot a short film with this, it helped a lot to get good UNIFORM lighting. Smartphones can blow out the background or foreground to accommodate the other.

Seems to be solidly built but make sure it fits your phone as it doesn't fit my Android phone. I was able to return it for a quick refund, that's good news and I'm giving it an extra star for that.

Bought for long exposure photography of waterfalls and other things. To do this, I have to unscrew the filter to "maximum". However, as the filter darkens, a very dark cross fills the lens, a polarization artifact. This makes it impossible to take a picture. Pretty useless unless you just need lower filter values. It performs exactly as you would expect from a variable neutral density filter and appears to be of good quality. It is large enough to fit on any standard camera lens without vignetting. Keep in mind that as with any variable ND filter, there are some settings combined with your camera settings that will produce an "X" style pattern. This is normal and not a defect of this filter. You need to adjust camera settings (ISO, shutter speed, etc.) or reduce ND filter setting to get rid of this side…

I love that it matches the description on my Galaxy Note 9! Covers both rear lenses perfectly with no fuss or calculations. The clip covers the front screen a bit and prevents access to some of my camera app's settings, but I suppose there's no avoiding it unless you're willing to switch from a DSLR lens to a moment case and one Investing in ND filters.
