This case has exactly the functionality I was looking for. I like to carry my phone around as a wallet, but regular card holders don't hold as much and the contents can easily spill out. I love that this one zips up and can hold a lot more cards than the regular card holder that attaches to the phone. I love this case. I had one for my iPhone 6+ and was glad to lose my wallet and be able to carry my phone, credit cards and cash in one package. When my 6+ died I was happy to see a similar case for the XR. I bought a protective glass for the front panel, and that's it.
