This large aquarium is ideal for bettas and companion fish. It does reflect on the glass though so I recommend a betta mirror to keep them occupied so they don't hit the sides of the tank. I only use live plants and volcanic substrate best suited for live aquariums. WARNING: The pump MUST be removed periodically, I recommend once every few weeks. I had it for about 5 weeks and suddenly I didn't notice any flow. Took it out and the pump was completely clogged with crap and the hose was very dirty in just that short time. Hose cleaned, pump blown through and thoroughly cleaned. Back to work, great! I have to think that those who say that the tank stopped working didn't know what to do. :)
