so far so good EDIT 1 year later.
replaced the vacuum connector after it was damaged and shorted out. Pretty easy to install and still pretty good in durability. He's quite heavy, so he wants to fall off his pedestals. but its weight also gives me confidence that it will hold up for a while. EDIT bought it a little over a year ago and can confirm it still works. It's still heavy, but my sockets hold it up well. I also miss the ability to "click" the cord back in once it's coiled. All in all, this is a good buy.
