I'm not tall and just can't reach everything in my kitchen cupboards. I have a small (11") one-handed step stool within reach right in the kitchen, it gives me maximum access, but I still can't reach the top shelves with it. So I started fitting a three-step folding ladder into the space between the closet and fridge.I can reach high shelves so it works.But it's large and a little bulky to get in and out of if needed.I found this two tier stool and although it was a bit more expensive than the other options I decided me for it and couldn't be happier.It's durable,there's nothing fragile about this stool.I feel secure getting up and up and can reach anything.the space between the counter and the fridge where a three step folding ladder was located and the A - and taking it off is much easier. This stool requires two hands to turn over as it requires some pressure (the hinge isn't "loose" so it's not more likely to "pop") I I have arthritis pain in my hands, but I don't feel uncomfortable opening and closing the stool. generally uncomfortable. If the folded stool was leaning against my counter or fridge when removing it, I'd be fine, but it sits by itself in the gap between my counter and fridge, not touching either. This feature doesn't matter to me, but I noticed some have asked if it could do that, so I thought I'd mention it.
