These caps work great under REASONABLE conditions. After years of paying for 5 gallon pitchers of water to be delivered to my house, I'm fed up with all the delivery errors, price hikes and ridiculous "fuel surcharges". My local grocery store has a machine that dispenses water at a much lower price, so I decided to get my own 5 gallon bottles, these caps, and give it a try. but the liner doesn't seem entirely necessary. These caps allow a few drops of water to seep through. Carrying the pitcher horizontally will spill a small amount. I do not recommend storing pitchers horizontally. I have not tested the caps under extreme conditions. I'm sure if I jump up and down on the jar the lid will bounce. I keep my water jugs upright just to be extra careful not to spill water. Lids allow for little evaporation. Probably slightly more than those used by delivery companies, but not enough to be a cause for concern. Especially when I pay 1/4 the amount for water. And unlike delivery company caps, these caps are reusable! They probably won't last forever, but they will definitely seal for many uses before wearing out. Skip the delivery company and bring your own water. You will save a lot of money!
