Review on πŸ—‘οΈ Moen GXS75C Host Series 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal: Enhanced Sound Reduction and Power Cord Included by Jeremy Marshall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is a good unit. I substituted 1/2 HP Insinkerator Badger.

This is a good machine. I replaced a 1/2 HP Insinkerator Badger that was leaking after about 10 years. This Moen device wasn't very difficult to install, but there were a few things I wish I had known beforehand (my fault for not doing 100% research). 1) This unit has a plug, my insinkerator was hardwired so I installed the outlet under the sink. 2) The default water drain is down, my insinkerator had a horizontal drain so I had to make a big drain adjustment. 3) The large locking ring that holds the flange to the units was so tight I could barely snap it into place. I thought about using the old ring but made a few more tries and succeeded. 4) The visible ring of the sink is made of shiny chrome and is inscribed MOEN in three places. The ring on the other side of my sink was polished stainless steel, so my wife had me alter it to match. This unit is fairly quiet and sounds good. He seems to enjoy eating what we normally feed him. It doesn't have inner lips to catch stale food, so I don't expect it to stink. A review I read said the filter does not let water through like other models. I'm assuming that's true, but I'd rather it create some drag and keep stray forks and spoons away. When installing the unit, I learned that the screen slides out easily so it can be cleaned or replaced if necessary. Finally, the chrome end cap fits really well, looks and works much better than the black plastic end caps I've had on other devices. Overall, it's a good device and relatively easy to install. Most importantly, the woman is happy.
